Tube Baby

July 10th, 2008

I’m going to write a book.  It will be called ‘Tube Baby’.  Tube Baby is born into a world of dark on London’s underground system when his mother unexpectedly goes into labour after boarding a train heading westbound on the Central Line.  Her husband didn’t make it onto the same tube in time.  The doors closed suddenly after he’d helped his wife climb aboard, paying careful attention to ‘mind the gap’.

It’s late in the evening.  There’s nobody else on travelling in this particular carriage.  In between platforms, the train grinds to a sudden holt as the emergency lever is pulled.  But it’s too late.  The woman has already given birth and her newborn has broken out of the carriage and onto the tracks.  It’s not clear how it managed this, but the doors have quite clearly been forced apart at the base, allowing just enough room for the baby to squeeze through.

Yes, so that’s pretty much the start of the story.  The Tube Baby is forever confined to the Central Line where he grows up terrorising Oyster Card holders who have more than £25 credit on their cards.  Nobody is sure how he identifies his victims this way.

Something like that anyway.

We filmed several Carsonites and their screens for the whole first day of Matt Week, sped it up, added a track from MGMT … and here’s what you get.

Coming soon…

June 26th, 2008

Another website brought to you by ‘the letter j’, or at least it will be once I’ve decided what I’m going to do with this website.

Maybe you’ve stumbled across this by accident, or maybe you’ve come here because you know me and have heard that I’ve just moved to a new home on the web.  Unfortunately, however you got here, there’s not really a lot to see or do right now.  I’m hoping to put this right soon, so if you can bear with me, that’d be great!

Until next time!
